How to Set Up Ledger® Live on Desktop

1. Verify Your Ledger Device

Before installing Ledger Live, confirm that your device is genuine. Your Ledger Nano X or Nano S Plus comes with tamper-proof packaging and a secure chip that ensures authenticity. If unsure, verify via Ledger.com.

2. Download Ledger Live

Visit the official Ledger.com/Start or Ledger.com/Live page. Choose your operating system: Windows, macOS, or Linux. Always double-check URLs and avoid third-party downloads.

3. Install and Open Ledger Live

Run the installer and launch the app. Ledger Live provides a secure environment to initialize your wallet, manage crypto assets, and perform firmware updates safely.

4. Connect Your Ledger Device

Use the provided USB cable to connect your Ledger to the computer. Ledger Live will automatically detect your device and prompt you to set up or restore a wallet.

5. Create or Restore a Wallet

New users can create a wallet and note down the 24-word recovery phrase. If you already have one, choose “Restore from Recovery Phrase” and follow on-screen steps.

6. Install Apps and Manage Assets

Install apps for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other supported cryptocurrencies through Ledger Live. Each app manages a separate blockchain, giving you total control of your assets.

App Not Detecting Ledger

If the update doesn’t complete, restart your computer and retry. Always keep your recovery phrase safe — you can restore your wallet anytime using it.

Lost or Damaged Device

Don’t worry — your funds are recoverable with your 24-word phrase. Simply purchase a new Ledger device and restore your wallet.
